I am really sorry to hear this. You were always one of my favorites. I remember watching a classic black and white sci-fi at your old big two story house on Tennessee next to your dad's office. We were maybe 7? We'd have been scared to death if we hadn't been laughing so much. I remember having lockers next to each other our junior years. We talked about how integration was a good thing. We talked about MLK's death, and way too soon about RFK's when we came back the next year. You gave me a copy of an undergound paper you were putting out. I was flattered. I saw you at the courthouse several years later. We were both wearing suits and feeling uncomfortable. I was actually trying to get on a jury, and you were trying to get out of a misdemeanor. I was called back but quickly let go, but you were gone when I came out.

Sounds like you found a good home, some good friends, and a good life I hope.

RIP, my friend. It was a pleasure and an honor knowing you.

I remember Jim as a happy and somewhat adventurous person.  I enjoyed having classes with him but worried a bit about drugs use that he seemed to be getting into with a few others in our class.  I am glad that he moved past that and hope he had happy life.  I know he will be missed by friends and family and pray that I will see him when I get to heaven.

I remember Jim as a definate free spirit. I always enjoyed talking to him. His wit and sense of humor were unmatched.

Not many of us guys took typing class in high school, but I'm glad I did.  It turned out to be one of the most rewarding courses in the career (writing) that I pursued after leaving MHS.  Because the class was populated largely by girls, I was quite apprehensive about taking the course (out of fear that I would be kidded about learning "secretarial work").  But my concern rapidly evaporated when I saw, on Day One, that Jim would also be a typing classmate.  If Jim could be at ease there, so could I.  He turned out to be the life of that party.
